Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with an unbreakable bond to the earth’s magic. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa’s best friend, makes her a Dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making her one of them. Rose and Lissa must navigate through this dangerous world, confront the temptation of forbidden romance, and never once let their guard down, lest the Strigoi make Lissa one of them forever.

***With spoilers and lots of rants and hatred
I was bitten and turned into a “vampire fanatic” by this series. It’s a YA fantasy about vampires with full of action, suspense, and romance. Actually, I have a love/hate feeling about this book. I could’ve given it a perfect 5 if I didn’t hate Rose so much, I wanna strangle her. As much as I DESPISED (which I couldn’t emphasize enough) Rose, I had to admit that the story is freakin’ good. The best vampire series I’ve read so far, it deserved to be on top of my favorite books, if not for the heartbreak it brought me and the shitty ending. I liked Rose, I really did, at least in the first five books. She was a good friend to Lissa, a good fighter who can hold her own in battles and she was full of sass. An interesting character and worth knowing. The story is great- full of action(and I mean it), there was not a time I got bored while reading the whole series. BUUUUT…the ending tho!
The part of the story that struck me the most and ruined this series for me was Dimitri-Rose-Adrian’s story. Rose and Dimitri’s love story was interesting at first, the teacher/student forbidden love which they tried to hold back and hide. was exciting and sweet. I was a happy camper. Until Dimitri turned into Strigoi(an evil vampire). I hoped he stayed like that or something. Maybe died. So then came the total AWESOMENESS that was Adrian Ivashkov. A dream walker who fell stupidly in love with Rose. A bad boy by standard- smoker, alcoholic, cocky and a prick at times. I knew from the start that he was the second guy on this love triangle, but I still rooted for him. Because he really was generous and selfless and he feels very strongly. His vices are not without a reason. While trying to find ways to restore Dimitri, Adrian and Rose started dating. Adrian gave every support and help that Rose needed to save Dimitri. Well, from that point on, I felt that Adrian was being used deliberately. It was painful to read. But that’s ok, I was waiting for something good to happen to him, even if he didn’t end up with Rose. But then, the moment Dimitri came back? Rose has rushed to his side and persistently convinced him that they still love each other. Wait, what?! Oh, but that wasn’t enough. When Rose finally convinced Dimitri that they were made for each other(GAG)…she CHEATED on Adrian. Well, somehow, she had the decency to feel guilty about it, she thought about breaking up with him. But on a second thought, she might still NEED him. So, not yet. “Soon, but not just yet because I might have to use him some more.”

Like, WHAT?! I just can’t stand her anymore. How did she turn out to be a lying, cheating, user? She was amazing in the first 5 books. It was like, “It’s okay to use people, to cheat on people, to dump people and treat them like trash because I am the super cool and witty heroine, I can get away with it. Everyone loves me.” UNBELIEVABLE. It was utterly heartbreaking. I felt betrayed. My favorite character was set aside like he didn’t even deserve a proper closure. It’s just wrong. It felt wrong. That’s just flat out cruelty to everyone who loved Adrian. Who got attached and cared for him like a real person. I knew I would never ever touch a Richelle Mead book again. Ever. Not even fucking Bloodlines.

Bye Adrian. Richelle Mead, how could you? Ughhh…
